desmatamento da Amaz{\^o}nia para o estado de Rond{\^o}nia. O
sistema oficialmente adotado pelo governo passou a monitorar os
focos de desflorestamento a partir de 1988, por{\'e}m, n{\~a}o
apresenta mapeamento detalhado sobre esses epis{\'o}dios,
contando apenas com as taxas anuais. Somente em 1997, com o PRODES
digital {\'e} que o sistema passou a fornecer dados vetoriais
sobre os fragmentos anualmente a partir de uma
detec{\c{c}}{\~a}o anal{\'o}gica realizada por
interpreta{\c{c}}{\~a}o visual. A metodologia automatizada de
detec{\c{c}}{\~a}o reduz consideravelmente a interfer{\^e}ncia
do usu{\'a}rio, diminuindo tamb{\'e}m o tempo de an{\'a}lise,
al{\'e}m de conferir objetividade ao mapeamento. Com os
resultados desse trabalho, p{\^o}de-se complementar a
informa{\c{c}}{\~a}o sobre os desmatamentos ocorridos antes de
2000, que alcan{\c{c}}aram 41456,084 kmē de {\'a}rea desmatada,
e fornecer um banco de dados detalhando mais de tr{\^e}s
d{\'e}cadas de explora{\c{c}}{\~a}o da floresta amaz{\^o}nica.
ABSTRACT: This study describes the application of an automated
methodology for retroactive detection of Amazon deforestation in
Rond{\^o}nia-Brazil. The system officially adopted by the
Brazilian government to detect the deforestation fragments was
implemented in 1988. However, the detailed mapping was not
possible, since only annual rates were counted, but with no
spatial description. Only in 1997 the system started to provide
data on digital systems, based on an analog verification performed
by visual interpretation, which was able to produce detailed
deforestation mapping. The automated detection used in this work
reduces user interference as well as the time spent in the
analysis, providing absolute objectivity to the mapping. By
merging the available data to the data produced by the related
method, the information on deforestation occurred before 2000,
which reached 41456,084 kmē of deforested area, was completed and
a database was provided detailing the three decades of research in
the Amazon rainforest.",
